Hi alh2k, I bought the car in 2017 with 200 k on the clock and it had full service history from Jaguar. I have had absolutely no problems with the engine - it runs really well and smooth and I get on average between 7.0 and 7.6 litres per 100 km fuel ecomomy. I try to drive reasonable most of the time.

If it's a red DPF warning as you say, it may be unlikely to clear taking it for a good run, keeping up the revs, that's more likely to work with an amber warning.

My X-Type 2.2D went through 4 EGR valves in the time I had it (0-130k miles). It was a known issue and every one was covered by Jaguar. Now, it had no DPF but when the EGR valve stuck it either wouldn't start or started to hunt if it was running. So perhaps that's the valve they replaced.

My original foray into Jaguar ownership was an S Type 2.7 I was blissfully unaware of the pitfalls of diesel ownership up here in rural Donegal. I really loved my 2.7 S type. The torque, the refinement, and of course getting well over 30mpg. on these hilly country roads. Like many, I now do only a small annual mileage, mainly on rural roads.
