2004 1.8 Tdci My Car Will Not Start Without Easy Start Then Will Idle Forever But Cuts Out If Driven More Than A Mile ,had Another Fuel Pump Put On By ckm , January 23, 2014 in Ford Focus Club Recently I've noticed that in a morning when cold the car takes some time to start but when it does it throws out a decent amount of white smoke which looks like a back up diesel after trying to start. When the car has started it's fine for the rest of the day. Ive been looking people are saying. Glow plugs, temp sensor or starter motor. Well, everything is clear, you have the first generation tdci injection system and since it is overflowing in the injector, it is pouring fuel during start-up, it does not make sense to measure it anymore, because the pressure during start-up will definitely be around 12 bar, or 12000kPa, that's as much as the injection pump feeds the fuel and get ford to put you a new battery on and it will solve all the problems. when i 1st had my car was just over 2yrs old wouldn`t start the 2nd day of haveing it.ford had it in for 2days did all software updates etc, but found that bad cells in the batt were causeing the probs. at the time ford batts were only coverd with 1yr but now they are 3yrs same as the rest of the car parts. Sounds like you have a misfire causing the juddering - spark plugs and coil pack would be a good place to start looking. As both lambda sensors are out of voltage, it's probably not those at fault, but they are detecting the overfuel from the misfire. 1. Id get them to do a leak down test as well. The other codes relate to a fuel pressure problem. On the TDCi's, there has to be a sufficient level of pressure in the system for it to function. Fuel can still get to the injectors, just at a lower pressure and try as you might, it wont start. Tried to start it today, it started for 1 second and died. Didnt start after that. Tried to start it for 1 second with start spray, didnt help. It started but died. Could not find any fault codes with my hand held universal OBD. There is a relay clicking every few minutes in the engine bay relay box after cranking. Dont know it thats normal or not. Xrrqxcg.
